Much later than what I hoped for, we have completed the update of our book for Debian 8 “Jessie”. We are currently proofreading all the chapters and you are invited to help us in this process.
To this end, the book is now available online:
- browse HTML version online
- download EPUB version for your ebook reader
- download Mobipocket version for your Kindle
Among all the usual updates there are some noteworthy changes:
- a new section on systemd
- a new section on AppArmor
If you find mistakes or typos, feel free to report them in the comments or by sending us an email. Even better if you can double check the git repository first to ensure that we did not fix them yet.
You get extra bonus points if you review a whole chapter and send us a patch ready to apply on our git tree. 🙂
We hope to publish the final version of the book by the end of the month.

Spanish version?
Raphaël Hertzog says
Ramiro, the Spanish version is here: http://debian-handbook.info/browse/es-ES/jessie/ but the Spanish translators have not yet caught up with this update… and you can help too. 🙂
See http://debian-handbook.info/contribute/ for instructions and pointers to the team handling the Spanish translation.
Raphaël Hertzog says
Except that the Spanish version currently does not build due to some mistakes in the XML… I’ll fix this at some point if the translators do not fix it themselves. I do that when I synchronize the translation from Weblate.

So very thankful for this! Have just set up my my homeserver with Debian 8(used Debian 7 before, no problem so fare). But I have had much help from the first manual too. Seeing forward to read the new systemd chapter!
Keep up the good work.
